made in Cinema 4D R11 AR3

I created this for =WooDeN-flAsHlIgHt Thank you! And I'm also entering it into the #The3DArtistClub Theme of the Month contest for "Light".

I used *Neon-Monkey Materials for the wood and brass ring. The floor image is from [link] WebTreats and I made the displacement maps myself. No postwork.

This project involved very little modeling and days and days of rendering , tweaking lights and materials , and rendering again .. and again. But I'm finally happy with it.

Well, I had two of my friends over for a sleep-over about four years ago. It was late in the afternoon, but they were already really spazzy. I was telling them story, then suddenly, one of them launched over the back of the couch and dragged something out from the shelf back there.

Out comes the kaleidoscope. She looked upon it in wonder. "Guys! It's- It's a wooden flashlight!" I was stunned. My other friend leaped over the couch. "Oh my god, ____." She sounded just was amazed at her odd proclamation as I did. "A wooden flashlight!" Both of them squealed in delight at the flashlight made of wood. They turned the front of it to try and "turn it on".

Basically I was in shock. I couldn't believe that both of them believed I had a flashlight made of wood in my house. Then they kept turning the front [where you turn it to make the colors and patterns change] to make it produce light, then tried to open the back to check the batteries.
